KKIS Chinese New Year 2025

On the 29th of January 2025, the date of the new year of the Chinese lunar calendar, KKIS held an event to celebrate the occasion.

All the students gathered up in the morning and it began with the directors’ speech about the traditons of Chinese New Year and how it is typically celebrated. Following the speech, the Year 4 students performed a special play, The Animal Race, a story about the Chinese zodiac.

After enjoying the play, all the students headed out to enjoy a tradtional firecracker showcase. Before returning to their classrooms, each student received a red envelope and a mandarin from the directors—a symbolic gesture to bring prosperity and good fortune in the new year.

Back in their classrooms, students continued the celebration through hands-on activities that included Chinese New Year traditions. They took part in making steamed cupcakes, coloring Chinese lanterns, and designing festive wallpapers using online images, incorporating cultural elements into their creative projects.

The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn, engage, and celebrate the spirit of Chinese New Year together.
